A Post Abortion/Pregnancy Loss Training Course
Trainee Cost of Course £150 per person
Centre cost of course materials Based on 8 participants; £200 for photocopying, flip pens and chart and paper clips and blue tack and refreshments - training venue rent and trainer petrol and time expenses would be additional
Previous experience of Course provider/trainer (relevant if they are providing a revised training modules or manual) "The training course is written by a trainer who has done a PTTLS course and taught a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling for two years and has considerable client experience for over 15 years.
Trainer to have a good knowledge of The Journey and Post Abortion and Pregnancy Loss client work and an understanding of Person Centred Theory if wanting to include this aspect of the course"
What course achieves for the participants (e.g. qualification gained, any accreditation, which centres recognise this course) This is an inhouse training course providing applicants with 40 hours of specific in house training in pregnancy loss and complicated grieving process. It is not an accredited course. Trainees will be equipped to journey alongside those struggling emotionally after pregnancy loss due to abortion, miscarriage or stillbirth as support workers using counselling skills. All trainees should practise within a centre abiding by BACP ethics and with good supervision on a regular monthly basis to ensure good practise.
Steps taken to ensure the quality of the resource Course evaluations are being done currently after the pilot of this course is completed January 2017 to gain feedback from trainees. Verbal feedback so far is very positive

Any other relevant information to share with Centre Leaders "I have used my own client examples and this can be constantly refreshed with each trainer’s own examples and experiences to bring exercises to life and keep up to date
Trainees attending this course should have already done a course that includes counselling skills modules, for example a pregnancy choices courses that include counselling skills or secular counselling skills course or a Barnabas counselling skills course or equivalent as this course builds on existing counselling skills knowledge.
