Previous experience of Course provider/trainer (relevant if they are providing a revised training modules or manual) Both course writers have many years’ experience of client work, as well as centre leading, training volunteers, growing their teams, and ensuring best practice through CPD programmes. All of this has informed the depth and quality of the resource.
What course achieves for the participants (e.g. qualification gained, any accreditation, which centres recognise this course) The foundations of this course are based in the 2008 Called to Care training course. It has been updated in line with current best practice and provides the necessary theoretical training for crisis pregnancy work. Following completion of the course, trainees will then need to have a programme of supervised practice within their local centre in order to become fit to work with clients.
Steps taken to ensure the quality of the resource Information was gathered from reliable recognised resources, such as NHS, RCOG, Office National Statistics,, and the Bible.
Any further support offered to support trainers using this course Email/telephone support available if required to answer any questions or concerns.
Any other relevant information to share with Centre Leaders "To ensure the quality of the teaching, it is essential for course leaders to have experience and understanding of client work in this specific field.
We would strongly recommend that the course is delivered by two trainers. This helps in energy levels, teaching styles, personality mixes and background experience.
Having two trainers also provides a safeguarding mechanism in terms of accountability in the quality of the teaching.
The course lends itself to collaborative working between centres, and can help to train people more quickly if you are drawing from a wider geographical area."
